Machine details

A CCD vision laser marking machine solves the alignment bottleneck. Conventional marking requires every part to be held in the same position by a fixture, and a fixture change every time the product changes. A vision system photographs the part first, identifies its actual position and rotation angle, then compensates the marking coordinates in real time - eliminating fixtures, manual straightening and secondary positioning altogether.

The Zhongyi vision solution holds +/-0.05 mm positioning accuracy with recognition time of 0.1 s per part, on a conveyor area of 120 x 20 cm. It can mark a whole tray of randomly placed parts in one run, or be wired into a line for inline coding. The laser source can be UV, fiber or CO2: vision is not a laser type, it is a positioning module paired with whichever wavelength suits your material.

Cycle time is the question buyers ask most. Recognition at 0.1 s means the vision stage is rarely the bottleneck; total cycle time is governed mainly by laser scan time and conveyor speed. For a tray holding dozens of small parts, one camera shot identifies many targets at once and marks them in sequence, which is an order of magnitude faster than loading parts into fixtures one by one.

When does it pay off? If your parts are regular in shape, high in volume and already have fixtures, a standard marker is cheaper. If parts are irregular, the mix is high and volume low, or placement simply cannot be made consistent, vision earns its cost immediately. Send one tray of real parts and we will record a sample video against your target cycle time.

Why this machine class

Every point below is a checkable fact, not an unprovable promise.

  • High-speed galvanometer scanning: fast, strong interference rejection, and a stable mark path over long runs.
  • Integrated frame with high rigidity; changing a job means editing parameters, not dismantling the machine.
  • Non-contact processing: no tool wear, clean and permanent marks that do not fade.
  • Software imports DXF / PLT / BMF / AI / JPG artwork, editable on the PC before marking.
  • Batch import from TXT / Excel, with automatic serial numbers, production dates, QR codes and barcodes.
  • No consumables and low maintenance cost; the optical module is an industrial part whose service life is defined by its datasheet.
  • Quiet operation with virtually no dust, suitable for 24-hour continuous running (a constant-temperature chiller keeps energy output stable).
  • CCD vision locates reference features and auto-compensates, removing reliance on fixture alignment.
  • Positioning accuracy of +/-0.05 mm, tolerating varied part orientation on multi-station lines.

Questions

Buyer questions

For irregularly placed parts, can CCD vision align automatically without fixtures?

Yes - that is the core value of vision. The camera images the whole tray, the algorithm finds each target's centre and rotation angle, then compensates the marking coordinates part by part. No fixtures, no manual straightening. The ZY-Vision recognizes in 0.1 s at ±0.05 mm and marks a full tray in one run. The prerequisite is that parts do not overlap in the camera field and have recognizable surface features; for completely featureless, tightly stacked parts we recommend a simple tray with locating pockets.

Does vision recognition slow down the cycle time for bulk small parts?

It should not be the bottleneck. Recognition takes 0.1 s per part and one camera shot identifies many targets at once, far faster than loading parts one by one. Cycle time is dominated by laser scan time and conveyor speed. If your target rate is extremely high - several hundred parts per minute - we suggest evaluating flying (on-the-fly) marking instead, which is designed for continuously moving lines. Vision suits tray-by-tray batch work.

Which laser sources can the vision system use?

All three: UV (355 nm), fiber (1064 nm) and CO2 (10.6 um). The vision module is independent and only compensates coordinates; the wavelength follows your material - UV for glass and plastics, fiber for metals, CO2 for wood, leather and acrylic. Choose the material first, then the wavelength; the vision and conveyor hardware is common to all. One vision unit can be re-used after a source change, which suits multi-product factories.
