Machine details
Portable and handheld laser markers exist for the jobs where the workpiece cannot come to the factory: nameplates on large equipment, installed pipe flanges, door and window profiles, steel components on site. These parts will never fit on a bench, so the machine goes to them. Zhongyi offers three form factors: portable UV at 60 kg, portable fiber at 40 kg, and a handheld fiber unit at just 6.8 kg.
The 6.8 kg handheld fiber unit is the most flexible of the three. With an 8-inch fully laminated touchscreen you edit the content and trigger with one press; infrared positioning outlines the marking area before emission, and repeatability is 0.01 mm. Power comes from either 110/220 V mains or a 216 Wh lithium battery, so work continues where no mains supply exists. The source is rated at 100,000 hours, and the process is non-contact with no ink or other consumables.
Portable UV (60 kg) handles heat-sensitive materials on site - glass, plastics and ceramics. Portable fiber (40 kg) targets metal deep engraving and colour oxidation with higher power and throughput. The selection rule is direct: choose by material first (metal goes to fiber, non-metal heat-sensitive goes to UV), then by whether the operator needs one-hand use (yes means handheld, no means portable).
Two site conditions are worth flagging. In areas with unstable mains voltage, run on battery mode or add a voltage stabilizer to avoid repeated restarts stressing the laser. In bright outdoor light, strong ambient light reduces the visibility of the infrared positioning outline, so a shade may be needed. We confirm both against your actual working environment during the proposal stage.

Get a quote →Why this machine class
Every point below is a checkable fact, not an unprovable promise.
- High-speed galvanometer scanning: fast, strong interference rejection, and a stable mark path over long runs.
- Integrated frame with high rigidity; changing a job means editing parameters, not dismantling the machine.
- Non-contact processing: no tool wear, clean and permanent marks that do not fade.
- Software imports DXF / PLT / BMF / AI / JPG artwork, editable on the PC before marking.
- Batch import from TXT / Excel, with automatic serial numbers, production dates, QR codes and barcodes.
- No consumables and low maintenance cost; the optical module is an industrial part whose service life is defined by its datasheet.
- Quiet operation with virtually no dust, suitable for 24-hour continuous running (a constant-temperature chiller keeps energy output stable).
- Air-cooled briefcase format needs no fixed power supply, cutting transport and changeover cost.
- The split handheld head marks oversized parts and large workpieces that cannot be moved.

Buyer questions
For on-site marking jobs, is the portable unit easy to carry?
The handheld fiber unit weighs 6.8 kg, can be held and operated single-handed, and runs off a 216 Wh battery without mains power - the most practical option for field service. Portable fiber (40 kg) and portable UV (60 kg) are car-boot sized, moved by two people, and suit jobs needing higher power or UV cold processing. Rule of thumb: handheld for one-hand operation; portable for deep engraving or heat-sensitive materials.
For outdoor metal marking, does it run stably on unstable mains?
Yes, with the right setup. The ZY-Portable accepts 110/220 V wide input and also runs from the 216 Wh battery. On sites with large voltage swings, use battery mode or add a voltage stabilizer to avoid repeated under-voltage restarts stressing the laser and controller. Keep cooling airflow and lens cleaning in mind during continuous work. Tell us your site power conditions and we will specify accordingly.
For overseas operators, is the system multi-language?
The marking software offers a multi-language UI, so overseas operators switch to a familiar language and start quickly - editing text, importing graphics and calling templates all happen on the touchscreen. Common scripts and multi-language text mark correctly. If you need a specific language or character set, raise it before ordering and we will preset and verify the rendering.
Still choosing a machine?
Send your samples and we will return a marking video plus the marked parts within 24 hours. Our engineers recommend a model based on your material and cycle time.
