Machine details
A flying (on-the-fly) laser marking machine marks products while they are moving. The essential difference from static marking is that the part never stops: it travels with the conveyor, and the galvo follows and compensates for the displacement in real time. What makes this possible is a high-speed rotary encoder - it reads actual line speed continuously, and the controller adjusts the galvo scan path accordingly so the artwork is never stretched or compressed.
The ZY-Flying marks at up to 14000 mm/s, supports line speeds from 0 to 120 m/min, and holds a minimum line width of 0.01-0.03 mm with characters down to 0.15 mm - enough for production dates, batch numbers and 2D codes on caps, food pouches and pharmaceutical cartons. The software reads a live database to generate item-level unique codes, serial numbers and variable QR codes on the fly, which is the foundation of anti-counterfeiting traceability and export compliance.
Against inkjet coding, laser needs no consumables, the mark is permanent and cannot be wiped off with alcohol, and it removes the daily chores of solvent handling and nozzle clogging. The trade-offs are higher initial equipment cost and some material selectivity - certain films need the right wavelength. For food, pharmaceutical and personal-care packaging exported to Europe and North America, the compliance and traceability advantages usually recover the price difference within one to two years.
On integration, the ZY-Flying mounts onto existing conveyors; installation is mainly bracket and encoder work, and the line itself usually needs no modification. If your line speed fluctuates a lot or starts and stops frequently, tell us in advance - we will specify encoder resolution and control parameters for the worst case and demonstrate it in the sample video.

Every point below is a checkable fact, not an unprovable promise.
- High-speed galvanometer scanning: fast, strong interference rejection, and a stable mark path over long runs.
- Integrated frame with high rigidity; changing a job means editing parameters, not dismantling the machine.
- Non-contact processing: no tool wear, clean and permanent marks that do not fade.
- Software imports DXF / PLT / BMF / AI / JPG artwork, editable on the PC before marking.
- Batch import from TXT / Excel, with automatic serial numbers, production dates, QR codes and barcodes.
- No consumables and low maintenance cost; the optical module is an industrial part whose service life is defined by its datasheet.
- Quiet operation with virtually no dust, suitable for 24-hour continuous running (a constant-temperature chiller keeps energy output stable).
- Marking speed up to 14,000 mm/s so takt time never caps throughput.
- Sensor-tracked flying height removes refocusing when part thickness changes.

Buyer questions
On high-speed lines, how does flying marking keep codes undistorted?
Through encoder tracking. The encoder reads actual belt speed and feeds it to the controller, which dynamically compensates the galvo scan path, so artwork keeps correct proportions during acceleration, deceleration or steady running. The ZY-Flying covers 0-120 m/min with characters down to 0.15 mm. Where a line slips or changes speed abruptly, we specify a higher-resolution encoder and tune for the worst case, then verify it during sampling.
For batch coding on packaging lines, can it generate variable data and QR codes live?
Yes. The ZY-Flying connects to a live database and generates date, batch, serial numbers and variable QR codes on the fly for item-level coding. Typical integration: the MES or database pushes fields, and the marking software assembles them from a template and marks immediately. If you already run MES/ERP we map to your field format; if not, local Excel or date rules work and can be upgraded later.
On a high-speed beverage cap line, how many caps per minute?
Throughput depends on three variables: the length of the code, the line's speed ceiling, and cap pitch. With 14000 mm/s marking speed and 0-120 m/min line support, a single lane typically reaches several hundred caps per minute for short codes (date plus batch). Exact throughput must be calculated against your real cap pitch and code content - tell us the target parts per minute and code layout and we will run the cycle-time calculation before proposing a configuration.
Pharma packaging runs 24/7 - how stable is flying marking?
Stability rests on three things: the laser's continuous-duty capability, controller stability over long runs, and the reliability of the line-side encoder and trigger. The ZY-Flying is designed for continuous lines and supports long duty cycles; air-cooled models remove chiller maintenance points. Recommended measures: interlock the laser with line stop (no emission when the line halts), keep fume extraction and lens cleaning in the routine, and hold spares for wear parts. Detailed duty and maintenance intervals are provided at quotation stage.
