QCW Laser Spot Welder Explained: Precision Welding of Thin and Delicate Parts Without Distortion

A laser spot welder solves welding precisely without distortion. QCW (quasi-continuous) pulses concentrate energy on a tiny spot with a small heat-affected zone — ideal for heat-sensitive precision parts like battery tabs, sensors and jewellery.

QCW Laser Spot Welder Explained: Precision Welding of Thin and Delicate Parts Without Distortion

Why precision parts choose laser welding

Traditional TIG has high heat input, distortion and coarse spots; laser spot welding has a tiny, controllable spot and minimal heat-affected zone, so thin-wall parts are not blown through or warped. Critical for batteries, sensors and medical devices.

Best-fit parts

Battery tabs and spot welds, sensor housings, stainless/titanium thin sheets, jewellery joints and settings, small hardware. Any weld that is small, thin, heat-sensitive and must look good fits laser spot welding.

Relation to the fiber marker

Marking and welding are both laser processing; many factories use a fiber laser marker for identification and a QCW spot welder for assembly welding, sharing one laser-process mindset and simpler maintenance.

Typical industries

New-energy batteries, 3C electronics, sensors, medical devices, jewellery and watches, hardware. Anywhere small parts must join firmly and neatly, laser spot welding is preferred.

Procurement Q&A

How is the price calculated?

Price depends on the model (UV / fiber / CO₂), power, laser-source brand (Raycus / JPT / IPG) and configuration (galvo, field lens, control software). Zhongyi Laser lists the exact laser-source and galvo models on the quote and in the contract, so the configuration is verifiable and easy to reorder or replace later.

What is the typical lead time?

Standard machines ship in 7 days; rush orders in 3–5 days; custom non-standard builds in 15–30 days. Before production we confirm drawings, process and sample results to avoid rework.

What about warranty and service?

18-month warranty on the machine. Core parts like the laser source and galvo are replaceable standard parts with long-term supply, so repairs and swaps are documented.

Can I test before buying?

Yes. Send a sample and we return a real test video within 24 hours and ship the part back. Key models get a 48-hour aging test, so you see the actual result on your own workpiece before deciding.

How do overseas buyers communicate and ship?

Open Mo–Su 08:00–23:00 (GMT+8) with English support. Reach us at +86 159 9995 5734, WhatsApp +86 190 9874 6815 or Laurie@laserdg.com. Machines are packed to export standards.

What is your engineering and supply capacity?

We have 3+ engineers, 7+ authorised patents and 5000+ units shipped. Standard parts like laser source and galvo are stocked long-term for predictable replenishment.

How thin can it weld, and how much distortion?

Common range is 0.1–2mm thin sheet with a small heat-affected zone and controlled distortion; thinner needs pulse and defocus tuning. Send a sample for a real weld test.

Will thin parts get blown through?

Not with a proper process. QCW pulses are short and energy is controllable; engineers tune by thickness and validate critical parts with a sample before production.

Can it work alongside a marker?

Yes. Many customers use a fiber marker for identification and a spot welder for assembly in the same shop — shared process, common spares, lower training and maintenance cost.
